people on this site will say they want more complex female characters but can't even handle Caitlyn Arcane halfway through her arc

I'm so sorry I cannot fucking get over the fact that Sevika ended up on the council, and that we're supposed to see that as a good ending for her. Yeah we never really resolved the class inequality plotline, and Zaun and Piltover are both still controlled by a council of oligarchs with unchecked power, but hey! One of the eight councilors (who we're shown usually operate by majority vote) is from Zaun! Equality!
To be perfectly honest I can't see why Sevika would even agree to that. At the very minimum they could have given us a scene of her accepting the position so we'd know her reasoning, because it feels so transparently hollow and performative and I can't imagine she wouldn't see right through it.
Honestly what a milquetoast and centrist conclusion to both Sevika's arc and the Zaunite Independence plotline that was so heavily built up in the rest of the show.
And the thing is, you know this wasn't the original vision. You just know that the writers at Fortiche had a different ending in mind, one where the Zaunite revolution either succeeded in separating from Piltover or was crushed in the attempt - either could have worked if they'd committed to it. Maybe we end with the two in all-out war and the conclusion uncertain, that could have worked too. Then some exec, either at Riot or Netflix, got cold feet at the idea that Arcane would actually be following through on its Eat The Rich messaging instead of just using it for the aesthetics, and made them change it to something less inflammatory.
And instead we got the most trite and played out version of "people with different backgrounds and beliefs can unite to fight against a common evil! Isn't that sweet? Don't worry about the corrupt and overfunded military police force they're nice now I promise."

I might be reading too much into this, but I feel like Vi hallucinating Caitlyn here was supposed to demonstrate how Vi experiences psychotic symptoms in moments of vulnerability, just like Jinx. It adds a new angle onto the discussion of ‘how Jinx was created’- not only was it the circumstances and unaddressed emotional issues, but genetics. It could be saying that Vi also inherited genetic vulnerability to psychosis, but she was never groomed into embracing it like Jinx was through season 1.
TLDR- it reinforces how the creation of Jinx as we know her was not Vi’s fault.
Or maybe it’s just lesbian yearning lol

Iris: So, you and Caitlin?
Barry, oblivious: What about her?
Joe: You like her, son.
Barry: Or course I do. She's a friend.
Iris and Joe, looking at each other:
Joe: Barry, think about something scientifically for me. What's the difference in the way you look at Caitlin, versus, let's say... Iris?
Barry, not paying attention: I look at Iris with extreme exasperation, slight annoyance, but mostly adoration. Caitlin, I look at her with care, appreciation, and usually a goofy smile.
Barry:
Iris:
Joe:
Barry, now aware: I like Caitlin.
Joe: Glad you see it now.

quick little comment on Vi (and yes, I like Vi)-
“I’m done pretending you’re my sister, you’re not.” Jinx will always be Vi’s sister. That’s not something you can change. Vi’s fear and resistance to change is what contributes to the destruction of her relationships as seen in season one when she keeps trying to get Jinx to be Powder again because she can’t accept who Jinx is now, and with Caitlin in season two. She asks Caitlin to “not change” at possibly the roughest point in Caitlin’s life lol. It’s an unfair thing to ask. I’m absolutely not saying the deterioration of her relationships is her fault entirely… but her issue with ‘change’ is a problem although understandable.
Y’all I just think it’s crazy she was ready to let Caitlin put THAT MASSIVE BULLET through Jinx’s head. I mean- the size of the hole would have blown most of her head off. And then she was ready to kill Jinx (Jinx was trying to kill her too, but I don’t think she really would have if she had the opportunity, as seen on ep 2 when she’s on the rafters and because it seemed like it was her plan to be killed by Vi). It’s so hard to think about because at the same time Jinx probably should be killed because she keeps killing people (I love jinx but girl-). That’s just hella gory. Like, would she have regretted it afterwards?
I’ve gone down the rabbit hole and now I don’t know what to make of this post. Give me y’all thoughts please.
